I worked with a girl who "snapped" and started stealing from the hotel...she had a pretty elaborate scheme...she would "damage out" boxes of hamburger patties by (falsely) reporting that they were left outside the freezer for too long to remain sanitary...then sell those burgers to cash-paying customers and pocket the money. To keep the inventory clean she would hand-write the tickets instead of processing them through the computer. She raked in thousands of dollars doing this...and loss prevention was onto so many "bigger" fish that they never caught on...she paid the other people around her to keep quiet, so I made some money off the deal too...it was weird...for being such a notoriously "tight" place to work, it was incredible what people got away with...

The bar-tenders in remote locations like the pool bar (me and others) were responsible for their own "liquor orders" - so some would "damage out" bottles of booze by saying that they dropped and broke them, get a replacement and take it home. The most I ever did like this was a 6-pack of beer...seemed way too risky for me so I never got big into it like some people...

But yeah, we had some of the characters come in the hotel and character people are very interesting folks. Tinkerbell is a total Prima Dona.

Cool stories, thanks for sharing. It's surprising what people will try and DO get away with, that's for sure. The more elaborate schemes usually come about when places are "tighter" than normal. So, what kind of beer was it? ^_^

I think it was something lame like Bud Light...there was a lot of inter-hotel trading too...the Japanese guys in the Sushi place loved the little mini-pizzas in the pool cafe restaurant, so they would trade us huge plates of sushi for a few 8 inch pizzas. this would also count as theft I suppose.

Then there were the late-night shifts where the crew from the pool restaurant would raid the meat lockers and fix ourselves prime rib sandwiches and filet mignon at 2 AM...

Then there were the times when female guests would hit on us and we had to play the company line of "Oh Miss, I am very flattered but we have strict policies against such things" as we gave them pieces of paper with our schedule and phone number on them.....Ah, the ballet troop and the brazillian tour group were my favorites...
