For those that try and keep up with other countries military progress. The j-20 black eagle had its first flight on the 11th.

Fairly impressive bird but can be much better if they get the engines they want. Its like a cross between the blackbird and a raptor.

Yeah, from what I have heard and read its a good bit larger than the F-22. It uses russian built engines while they are waiting to develope their own.

From what I have gathered is that China does not have the technology or the means to complete this thing on their own. The advanced avionics and most likely the engines will have to be sourced from someone else. Right now with those engines, its probably only marginally more stealthy than the F-15 Silent Eagle.

I know a lot of people don't want to provide any technology to China because they are known for ripping it off. The last fighter they got from Russia, they copied and built themselves.

Supposedly, it is designed to be a Raptor killer (lol).

It is much bigger than a Raptor, and thus has a larger payload, and larger engines. The canards are supposed to make it more maneuverable than a Raptor in a dogfight (lower speeds) , but they highly impact it's top speed, and range. Because of them, they can't have anything like the "supercruise" we have on the Raptor, so the range is way below the Raptor's.

I had an email sent to me from a freind at a company with some info on this bird. Its pretty impressive in an untested way. Everyone puts it at about 75 ft long. Pretty big for a f or fa designation aircraft.
