Compared to more popular pistol calibers? Yes.
Fiocchi sells a 50 round box for about $16+ on most online sites, before shipping. 9mm can be found locally for around $12 a 50 round box all over the country. If you are target shooting a .22 is around $20 for 500 rounds.

You would also need to get the Iver checked out by a gunsmith to make sure the timing is right and that everything is working correctly otherwise it could misfire or worse, blow up in your hand.

Look for colt collectors websites as there is usually someone grabbing up those derringers and you might learn more about it too.

I would use whatever commission you get and buy a .22 so you have something to start with.

The H&Rs are prone to timing issues after a while and I would not suggest firing it without it being inspected by a certified gunsmith.

yeah thats exactly it an iver johnson got it right here after a few more trigger pulls its still a bit of a hard pull (probably as its meant to be) opend up the grip the spring shows no rust bit of dirt the finish is pealing in spots couple spots of rust needs a new grip do to a crack by the owl any idea on its value ?

oh and doesnt shoot modern ammo ?

after further inspection i see what you mean the gun has no rifling so this things pretty useless as a firearm or a collectors peice i guess
