The writing style is definitely unique. Each chapter is from a certain character's perspective. Very often you'll have multiple chapters, telling the same story from multiple character's points of view. Really looking forward to the 5th book "Dance with Dragons" as the 4th book "Feast For Crows" left you hanging. This was mainly due Martin splitting the book and releasing Feast For Crows... and leaving the rest of the unused material for Dragons. The manuscript for Dragons is already the longest book in the series and he's still working on writing.

Re: Game of Thrones
My favorite book series ever being made into an amazing TV show starring one of my favorite actors and it's on a channel I can't watch....

Re: Game of Thrones
I'm also rereading the first four books. Absolutely fantastic series. The series is a low magic(ish) fantasy, lots of politics and fighting. The books don't pull any punches for characters or factions. Very easy to read, chapters are from different character view points, and the writing changes slightly to accomodate the characters. Arya is a young girl, so her chapters will come across some what childish in reasoning and descriptions. While Tyrion's chapters will come across calculating and rambling.
I didn't care much for the show though. The dialogue and events just felt off. I understand they can't translate 100% from the book, but taking the same amount of screen time the part would have used, and rewritting it puts me off. Finding the wolf pups bothered me a lot. The first part of the series is the largest example, the prologue of the first book where you follow the three Black Watch rangers beyond the wall. Whole scene is way off. Wrong people die, in the wrong fashion, to the wrong enemy, completely changes the whole part of the story.
