i was disapointed in arya but i think shes finally turning around and will gain strength.....and become a ruthless assassin

I was glad to see they did include the part where they cut off Robb Stark's head and replaced it with the head of his dire wolf. I was going to be disappointed if they hadn't included that. So they really only wrapped up the red wedding... Early next season there will be yet another wedding to enjoy....

yeah a friend told me bout the wolf head thing before last nights episode but wasnt it originally sat at a table?

I was wondering where this thread went. Well, I think this thread has earned a bump. I'm surprised we haven't been talking about it here this season in here.

This episode was too perfect. I loved (hated) every minute of it. I'm sooo excited for the last two episodes. The break between the last episode and this one was the longest two weeks ever.

As a side discussion, I totally figured out who John Snow's mother is. Now, I'm just putting together context clues from what I've seen from the show and the first book which is all I have read - I have no clue if I'm right or if the books have even specified yet, so if they have and you have read the books, please avoid spoiling it for the rest of us.



*** John Snow's Mother And Other Speculations ***

A friend asked me If I thought I knew who John Snow's mother was. I hadn't really thought about it up until that point - but I thought of what we knew about john snow's history. We learn in season one, Ned Stark goes off to fight the mad king and get Leanne back (Ned's sister who was supposed to marry Robert Baratheon, whom had been kidnapped by the mad king, Rhaegar Targaryen). The rebellion of Baratheon, Stark, Tully, and Arryn against the Targaryens is fought and ends at king's landing, Ned shows up back in Winterfell x amount of time after he had left with a child in hand. This is Ned's bastard love child by an apparent tavern wench. Lady Cat is ashamed of him, Ned refuses to speak of his mother, but Ned also treats him very well like a high-born.

I thought that this would have been very out of place for Ned; he is a very honorable and respected lord and for him to forsake his wife for a tavern wench and conceive a bastard child would be incredibly unlike him. Then it donned on me that it wasn't him who was the father. What if when the mad king kidnapped Leanne, he raped her and she conceived the child (John Snow) before her death. Somehow the child was kept a secret when the Targaryens were all hunted down and Ned Stark learned the truth and brought him back to Winterfell to keep him a secret. In actuality, that would mean John snow is actually son to the mad king and heir to the throne. This is why Ned will not speak of the boy's true identity or of the identity of his mother. Ned would have been his uncle which is why he would have treated him so well, and the lords of the other houses would have had him killed as a bastard child of the mad king.

If this is is actually his true identity, that would mean John Snow is the single most important figure in all of Westeros. He is the son of a Stark mother making him in the line of the first men and the lord over Winterfell as the oldest living Stark, he would be the son of a Targaryen meaning he would have had a claim to the iron throne of Westeros (he was burned by the fiery torch lantern at the wall so we know that he isn't dragon-born like Danaerys). He would literally be the son of ice and fire. Mark my words, John Snow will eventually move into his role as the central character for the series and his story will shift towards his learning the truth about his identity and his struggle with Danaerys over the rule of Westeros. I think there will also be contention over which of them is older because Ned brought back John Snow as a baby and Dany was smuggled to the free cities as a baby. All other Targaryens are dead so the only ones who could validate this would be Varus, Littlefinger, Pycelle, or others in Kings landing who operate in the shadows.

We see in season one when Arya is down in the cellars of kings landing, she overhears men conspiring. She overhears them discussing the murders that have taken place and "She's not ready, she's too young. she doesn't have an army" or something of the sort; leading us to believe they were instigating Dany's inevitable invasion of king's landing. We also know that Littlefinger conspired with Lady Lysa (cat's sister at riverrun) in the murder of John Arryn and the sending of the letter to Cat, which has ultimately placed littlefinger in a position where he could claim lordship over Riverrun having married Lady Lysa (and consummating the marriage as we all are horrified to think of lol). I think, his plans involved him learning of John Snows identity, telling Ned about it, and convincing Ned to keep quiet about it to protect John Snow. When in actuality, Littlefinger was just securing the end that he and Ned would be the only two people who know about who John Snow really is. Then, when his plans lead to the death of Ned, it became so that Littlefinger is now the only living soul who knows John Snow's true identity, and to that end, doesn't have to worry about John Snow learning the truth and contesting the throne. I think this is all a part of Littlefinger's campaign to rule the world. Varus once said about Littlefinger, "he'd let the whole world burn if he could be king of the ashes."

And even further, I would claim that Littlefinger ISN'T the only one who knows, I think Varus knows and I think that's his closest guarded secret and that he is committed to contesting Littlefinger. I think the two of them have conspired this whole weaved conundrum to bring the world into chaos and at their fingertips are John Snow and Dany. Varus has put so much effort into keeping tabs on Dany and what's going on across the sea and Littlefinger has placed all of his energy into the Starks and the north. I think they will bring the world to its end, and that all men will die, as they will have conjured up a new resurgence and a war between the white-walkers and the dragons. A Song of Ice and Fire. I wouldn't put it past GRRM to end it all with the death of all humanity.

My brother just had an idea. What if Varus is actually a Warg, and that his "little birds" he's always talking about, are in fact, birds that he can take over and he uses to spy and gather information? What if that is how he knows so much?

Read the books.. It is a great show and watching the characters come to life makes it much more enjoyable. Your speculations are blown out of proportions.

Rhaegar was not the mad king. He was the SON of the mad king Aeris Targaryen II.

last nights ep was expected cause someone spoiled it for me a while back but they kinda went over kill at the end with the mountian knocking all his teeth out with 1 blow then exploding his skull i know its not exactly reality based but come on

1 great part is arya bursting into laughter at the gates to the veil .....then the ending its time to hate sansa again
