Re: Game of Thrones
Yes.. I bought the books after watching the first show of season 1. Books are detailed about the characters and I like reading! :P I would like these books to be made into TV series or movies...space opera! Deathstalker (Deathstalker, #1) by Simon R. Green

Re: Game of Thrones
Kinda miffed that the series is making more and more changes and straying from the book. I mean yes, I expected it, but the first few seasons did such a great job retelling the books. I guess it got my hopes up. Also, my mind is boggled at how far forward they are skipping with some of the story line, and completely dropping other parts.

They've taken a bit of creative license, but the overall story is the same. Instead of Brienne fighting someone masquerading as the Hound... they had her fight the Hound. Slightly more interesting. You have to remember, they have roughly 10 hours per season to tell a story. They took 2 seasons to cover A Storm of Swords. I suspect they'll take 3-4 seasons to tell the story in A Feast for Crows and A Dance with Dragons. I readily expect them to take those two and cover the events in chronological order instead of how Martin presented them in books (he took the events and split them by character).

ALL LEATHER MUST BE BOILED: A new reader
Additionally, sometimes, what appears in the book doesn't make for good TV, or would be too costly to include. Cost is weighed against the importance of the scene/story line and if the story line really doesn't add anything to the overall plot, then it gets cut. (Stoneheart)

Re: Game of Thrones
I will read the books this summer. I hated reading the first and second books, I found his writing didn't work well in my opinion. When I've read them I can make a better judgement call, but I find they build a better story on screen. Remember George is involved so my guess is he wants book readers to have a new experience too.

07-02-14, 05:12 AM #69I read the first one and I kind of liked how each chapter jumps between perspectives, but that may just be because im a bad reader and the short sections hold my attention longer lol. I enjoy his writing style but I found I didn't like the first season as much when I saw what they had cut out, but it made me appreciate the casting decisions as many of the characters appear on screen just like how I imagined them. Knowing the ending from reading the book kind of killed the big season one surprise on screen for me. Having been only a show watcher since then, I still fall victim to George's surprises each season which is why I am so torn on whether I should read the rest or not.
