Just move to the next rental until she got behind on them and the same thing happened? Not trying to judge here but there is accountability on both sides of this. Should we have no pity for the home owner because he may have money?

Why was she getting the government aide in the first place? Is she disabled? If not was it just because she could not find a job? For me personally, I would sell my 360 and my guns in order to pay my bills WHICH I OWE!

Probably none of the things you "want" to hear but with just a slight summary of what happened its all I got. There probably is way more to the story than I know and I hope she gets things worked out for the best.
not sure what she owed on back rent i think its less then 500. and her 600+ cleaning deposit was goin twords that. and he had just received 1200$ my brother paid on her rent. guns were a 22 12 gauge ar-15 and not sure what else. she said they bought the ar-15 for 800 i assume the value is more. an xbox 360 with rockband i would personally value at about 300$. lets say an artifical x mas tree bout 20$ tv ?? so 1100 $ thats not knowing what a 12 gauge and 22 go for. so lets say all in all were looking at 1500-2000$. in stolen property that i know of he pretty much ransaked the house and took what he wanted

fars i know she was moving out and gave notice cause the rent was to much also from what i heard he is trying to trump up the money given as late charges/interest which i think i heard he could only charge 10% of her rent on that so pretty much from what i'm hearing he is trying to be pretty shady

my brother contacted a lawyer he said hes construction guess the guys one of his clients so no cost there

me i just dont understand this whole civil bs if someone steals your stuff that shuold be palin and simple black and white theft / grand theft? thats really all i was wonderin

Hmm still sounds like theft to me. Especially on the weapons. Did they tell the cops that weapons were stolen? Is this a reputable polie force or a barney type force? The cost of the goods seem to far exceed the money owed.

    Re: legal question

I would def get a lawyer.. I would also talk to the chief of police. If its a small town sometimes the "regular" police officers are awful. I work for housing at the college and deal with this type of stuff all the time. One thing they tell us is to never take anything and if we do keep it for at least 60 days. We have people leave things all the time.

If that does not work you could do just like i would and beat the shit out of the land owner and take all the shit back plus some and I am just joking here... dont want to get into trouble with tpg or get you into trouble..

hollywood's version of the old west if I read what you're implying correctly. As real life in the Old West was hardly as "shoot'em up" as you're assuming.

    Re: legal question

Disagree on the hollywood Old West being any better then the current legal system (it wouldn't even be close).

Surprised the police seemed not to be too concerned about the stolen guns though. Maybe it is just me, but that would seem like something the police should be very concerned about over anything else.
