People mess up your interwebs
So for a few days here I've had periodic lagspikes of up to 2000 ping (now I know what maximusboomus feels like)
it turns out that whenever my stepdad gets on his iPad, it causes every computer in the house to lag. So when we found out a few days ago, we tried to install a new router to fix it. My mother's computer doesn't have a CD drive, so we couldn't install the software for the new router. So I had to go to Wal-Mart to look for an external CD drive, and they didn't have one. Then I drove to Target and they didn't have one there either. I get home and put the old router back in, and it didn't work. I tried resetting the signal and everything, but it still wouldn't work. I had to call Comcast, was put on hold for 40 minutes, and finally got them to help me fix it. Then as SOON as it gets fixed, my step dad's two brothers arrive from California and immediately jump on his iPad. On the outside I'm being nice like "Oh, I don't mind. If you'd like to be on the iPad then no problem " but I'm just about ready to explode on the inside... looks like no games for me tonight, only forums.
He seems like a nice guy from my experiences with him. He is a bit quiet though.[/]

Wait... you wanted to install the software for the router? That's just crazytalk. I have never never never used the software for any router / modem. Just do the simple http://192.168.1.1 (or brand equivalent). Only software I've ever used is the airport utility - which you can just as easily download.
