    Cold presses anyone have knowledge?

Ok heres the deal. I have a 100 x 52 print mount cold vacuum press. What i have found out so far is its the biggest unit made by Print Mount Inc. Im still trying to figure out what the hell it does and how much i can unload this thing for. I had a blast of a time getting this thing on my trailer by myself with no fucking dollies. Then i get home to find out the thing weighs 550 lbs.

So one im fucking tired and two i would love to unload this damn thing for a decent price with them doing the unloading.

I've been looking and i found their site but its jibberish to me. So hopefully one of you guys knows something about it.

I think this particular press is used for laminating/mounting something like a poster or a photograph, but I'm really not sure.

    COLD PRESS

Not to be pedantic about it, but your Print Mount cold vacuum press is for mounting prints.

That is: if you have a photo, a picture, a poster, or some other image which you want to attach to a substrate, you could do worse that to use a vacuum press. The basic idea is you take your substrate (foam board, plastic, plywood, whatever), add some glue, put your picture on it, and then enclose it in the press.

The press works via vacuum, which eliminates bubbles between print and substrate and applies pressure. It's a similar principle to the way you can apply veneer to wood with a vacuum bag. Your unit is a cold press. There are also hot presses which I'd guess you'd use with a heat-activated glue or to laminate and seal something between sheets of plastic.

A working unit is more than just the table, there will also be a vacuum pump. In order to work correctly, the table must seal when closed, and the pump must be able to pull the appropriate vacuum and hold it for some length of time.

I've seen them work, but never used one myself. I know next to nothing other than what I've said. I've used vacuum bags for woodworking, and they operate on a similar principle. As a final disclaimer, it might also be that I have misinterpreted your description of the thing you have.

For pricing, I have no idea. I'd call a local photo or print shop, or maybe a regional supplier. You could also try getting a quote from the manufacturer.

    Cheers,

I found this along with some new info. This is a 10k unit that works. Why would someone want to just piss that away like that? Appearntly it can do as you said love but because of its size is capable of of adhering finishes to wood the size of a bed frame.

Si If you watch that video you can tell right away it isn't from the US. How many osha violations would those guys be in trouble for here? LOL Makes no sense. Your going to stand in a tented spray box spraying adhesive not wearing a respirator?
