You're right that isn't light moving away from darkness. Because darkness does not exist. It's light moving in the direction it has been projected, and being summarily absorbed by the walls of the room, and most likely converted into heat energy. The only thing the light is moving away from is it's point of projection. Whether that be the light bulb, or, for the light that managed to be refracted/reflected, the point on the wall/mirror.

Remember that light moves INCREDIBLY fast, and that is why we don't see all it's activities after it's source is turned out. If we slowed everything down immensely we might see the particles slowly being absorbed into the wall, some bouncing off in different directions to be absorbed later. But to the human perception the room goes dark immediately.

The best way to describe it is to imagine that you're in a room and there's a water spout in the middle. As the spout is turned on the room fills with water. Now to ask what is the speed of darkness is akin to asking what is the speed of dry. As the water leaves the room through drains we can measure the speed at which it is dropping. Much like light particles being absorbed by the walls of a room after the light bulb is turned off.

So we can measure the speed of light, or light absorption and we can measure the speed of drainage, but we can't measure the speed of dry or dark because those are merely abstractions we use to describe a lack of something.

If you want to ask what the speed of dark is you COULD say it's the speed of light since as light moves away from an area the area will become dark at the same rate and speed. But it still doesn't REALLY make sense since darkness isn't actually anything physical or real in any sense, and therefore is not measurable on it's own.

You could look at it like this:

    A room is 0% light.
    A light turns on.
The room is now 80% light
    The light turns off.
The room is now 0% light OR 100% dark. Darkness being the absence of light. And that's all darkness is.
