Have I tiold you I hate working on Cars........

So today I had to replace the Intake Manifold gasket on my daughters truck. So while I was there I replaced the EGR valve, The Cap and Rotor, changed the oil and of course the radiator fluid since I had to drain it to work on the gasket. In order to do this I had to pull the distributor and then I had to buy a timing light to make sure it was set right afterwards.

Top reasons why I hate working on Vehicles:

    1. I hate getting my hands dirty or having dirt stuck under my fingers nails for a day or two.
    2. I have no clue what I am doing.
    3. It is freaking hot outside, 103 in Magnolia Texas Today.
    4. I don't have the right tools.
    5. Since I have no clue what I am doing it usually takes me twice as long to get the job done.
    6. I have to buy the tools I need since per #4 above I don't have them.

anyway who doesn't like to work on cars??

For me it depends on the car and conditions.

I love building them but repair work just blows. I dont like the grease all over my hands either. Thats why i started wearing nylon gloves several years ago. Next time you need to pull a distributor save yourself some time and money. Buy a little bottle of white out and mark where the rotor is before you pull it out.

As for not knowing what your doing i cant help you there other then hit me up if you need help next time.

I bought the mechanics gloves last year and have been using them for the most stuff, but today I forgot about them until my hands were dirty.

This is an older truck, 92 so it is easier than others. My father in law was here to help me but he is 75 so he was really here just to tell me what to do and how to do it.

We did try and mark the distributor and the few plug wires we had to pull off but I must have messed 2 of them up and placed them on the wrong cap plugs....lol After I bought a timing light and was checking the timing did we decide to re-check the plug wires since the truck was running rough.

I do realize I saved a ton of money but it is not my cup of tea but I do feel like I need a gallon of Jack Daniels now.

I do love to work on cars. but I have a few of the same problems you do (though I don't mind getting my hands dirty)
Never have the right tools for the job and the conditions are never the nicest to work on/in. Sometimes I know what I'm doing
or can at least figure it out but I'm by no means an expert mechanic.
Wouldn't mind helping you out next time you need it but I don't think you'd be taking it up to Wisconsin for that lol

Wisconsin, I think I can take it to a mechanic shop and get raped over the coals and still come out ahead. j/k

    Thanks for the offer.
