Hello there,
My girlfriend car stereo exploded last week (she had some electric problem and upon boosting the car, it short-circuited to the radio, through the sucky fuse) and I thought i'd install a new one since she will be driving huge distances in the upcoming weeks.
I browsed the used stereo ads since I cant really afford a 150$+ system and it occured to me: are these things "one size fits all" or there is really car-specfic radios and such? I couldnt find any details so I assumed this is pretty standard, but I wanted to make sure with one of you car enthusiasts
(This is what I'd like to buy: Radio d'auto - Ville de Québec véhicules à vendre - Kijiji Ville de Québec or KDC-MP345U - Ville de Québec Audio, GPS à vendre - Kijiji Ville de Québec)

It really depends on your knowledge to what is actually needed. If your good with electrical like i am you dont need anything. If you aren't then a wire kit is the best option. A dash kit is a good idea because it just makes mounting it easier and cleaner looking.

I can't think of any reason why you wouldn't buy the wiring kit for the head unit, no matter how good you are with electrical stuff. The wiring harness allows you to quickly plug the head unit into the existing harness in your vehicle. Removing the factory plug from your vehicle would be just plain stupid.
If you ever decide to swap the head unit or put the factory unit back in, you would have a LOT of work to do. Work smarter, not harder.

Re: Car stereo
Because sometimes you cant find the right connector. Personally i have mine set to where i can hook into any car in under 10 minutes. That of course is just the wires. Those speedy kits work very well for everyone and are a good product. I however use a generic adaptor set up. My radio is plugged into it and i can t connect to a cars harness in minutes. So i had to buy 1 connector over the past decade and a box of t connectors everytime i switch.
So i am working smarter and cheaper.
