Oklahoma and Texas would stay, if the rest would is another story. Everything I heard during the summer was how fucked up the Big 12 shit is. Basically Oklahoma and Texas get most of the benefits, and the rest of the teams get the scraps left over. Unless the Big XII massively reform (which they won't, as then Texas and Oklahoma would probably leave, in typical dick move), its going down. I would bet A&M wants to go to the SEC because the money share is much fairer then the TxOk conference (reasons Colorado and mizzou wanted to leave, and I think a few others earlier)
I thought, though I could be wrong, Texas was one of the ones who didn't want to leave the Big XII during the "super conference" time, because the Pac wouldn't allow them to have their own television channel (and thus their own revenue advantage).Last edited by Red_Lizard2; 08-22-11 at 01:41 AM.

Texas was one of the teams involved with negotiations with the PAC... In the end they didn't want to leave when they couldn't get their way, but they were 'promising' they could bring other teams from the Big XII (like A&M) and was a point of contention and one of the reasons motivating A&M to want to leave the Big XII in the first place. In the end it was beneficial for Texas to stay where they were in a conference, they basically run since Beebe is essentially Mac Brown's puppet.

from 2010 but this is basically the revenue share and how it is set-up in the Big XII:
Unequal revenue sharing will remain - Big 12 Blog - ESPN
apparently the Pac doesn't have revenue sharing yet, its 55% of TV revenue goes to the two teams playing in the televised game, with the other 45% going to the rest of the teams (if I read right):
Bud Withers | Equal revenue sharing hot potato for Pac-10 | Seattle Times Newspaper
Anyways I got the TV thing right, but that was about it xD. What I can find it sounds like Texas want to go to the Pac because they would be in more GOOD TV markets, and thus would help their own network (or something like that). Pac didn't want to let Texas have the network (and damn right decision too), so Texas didn't want to go to the Pac. The Big 10 is out of course (they wouldn't want a competing network in the conference), SEC would be out (their big deal with CBS would keep them from Texas imo), so seems it would be ACC, Big East, or Big XII.
I'm surprised Oklahoma isn't having a fit, they'd be heavily sought, and have a chance to swing OK State with them. Plus they wouldn't have the ESPN money and their own network to complicate matters. I'm sure the Big 10 (err 11...err 12), Pac, and possibly SEC would be interested

One would have to think OU would have the biggest fissy fit about it (unless they want to create a Sooner network or something). Especially considering OU should have a good bit of weight to throw around if it wants to (The Big XII is basically OU/Texas and now and then a surprise story). I would think any of the decent teams should be upset by it. I could see Baylor, ISU, and maybe K-State not bringing it up (as they would be fucked if the conference dissolved). Tech might or might not, same with OSU. I would think Kansas would, as they have the basketball program to use as weight if they had to move conferences (love them in the Pac-12 for basketball).

08-26-11, 08:05 AM #17The thing is it is not just about how good you are, but also about how marketable you are also. Why do you think the PAC and especially SEC want schools like Texas and A&M? It is all about TV markets. While OU has a very respectable university and athletics program the Oklahoma tv market is crap, and that is why there is a longhorn network, but not a sooner network.

Wow... leave it to Baylor to be a cock block. They are just upset because they are the red-headed step child that's going to be left behind because nobody wants them.

Re: A&M and the SEC
Can you blame them really though? They stand to lose a ton in the long run.
Really and truly it depends on what happens with the rest of the conferences. If the six major conferences remain, baylor could be in line to dominate the big 12 if all the others leave and they get subs like BYU, etc.....
Robert Griffin is a beast..that is all
