2011-2012 Hunting Season
Once again the weather starts to cool down. Bow season started Oct.15th
I stuck a large 6 point in the shoulder but couldn't find it. When he ran off I could see the arrow sticking out his shoulder and it didn't look very deep.
He didn't start bleeding till about 40 yards from where I took the shot. The blood drops where the size of a quarter and only lasted 30 yards. Then no more blood. No arrow anywhere. I would like to have my Carbon Express Arrow back along with my Rage broadhead. 3 broadheads cost $40 and 6 arrows $60. That's $23 a shot!!!
ANYWAY, I have seen a few doe and a couple small bucks since then. To many acorns in the woods and the deer hardly need to move because of so much food in the woods.
I will be gone most of next week. Heading out Monday setting up Camp. Hunting Tues and Wed at (Black Warrior WMA) BankHead National Forest 98,000 acres. They turned loose a Michigan strain of deer 20 or 30 years ago and they rut early here compared to the native deer. Several bucks in the 150's & 160's typical and no typical have been taken from there. Muzzel loader starts Monday and then rifel kicks off saturday. Best of luck hunting this season.
Lets see those pics! Trail cam pics as well.Last edited by ~BigTymer~; 11-09-11 at 12:14 PM.

I am going to my brother's place next week. He for sure has hogs on his property, and they have seen deer in the past. He has almost 50 acres, and we also have permission to hunt on his neighbor's land. My nephew is putting out corn this week to prep for us. Will post pics if we bag anything.

Civil, BankHead has tons of hogs too. I will take one if I get the chance. Sad to say we can't hunt over bait in Alabama.
DR.Feel....Hunting is my life other than my wife/kid. You need an outdoor hobby.Son calls Dad a fag.

Nah, its how we bait them into hog traps. If anything, just gives them the hershey squirts, but they love it.
After we catch them in the traps, we would just sell them to people for the meat.
When you soak the corn though, don't use too much diesel. We would usually use a 5 gallon bucket, fill it with about 2 inches of diesel and then put about 3-4 inches of corn in it. I've also used old milk too, but talk about some stanky ass shit.

Vanilla and corn works as well.
I missed opening weekend working. For my family, opening weekend is men only and maybe 2-3 people actually go out and hunt. Beer and liquor from early am til early am and repeat friday saturday and sunday. Gotta love the irish side of the family.

I haven't been hunting in quite some time. I equipped myself to wage some major war on a nasty hog infestation a few years back, but had to sell my stuff back off to go see an ailing grandfather in Florida. Just down to Popop's 30-30 now. But the lease is half a day away so I can't even afford to sight the darn thing in again.
Anywho, good luck to those going out this year. Be safe. (As possible.)~The optimist proclaims we live in the best of all worlds. The pessimist fears it true.
