Just curious if anyone else is getting hi latency lately and found the problem to be level3?
I noticed over a week ago that my latency has increased 90 to 100 ms everywhere and also dropped packets, lag spikes etc when connecting to ip addresses .
So I done a traceroute located the problem emailed a screenshot of the traceroutes of every single ip address I connect to daily .
My isp (CABLEONE) tells me it`s out of thier hands and beyond thier ability to fix .
So I done some research and noticed a thread a guy made at quakelive site Atlants GA, and my corps explination
I find this interesting that I`ve got friends going thru the same poor network issues etc and it all seems to go back to Level3 .
Shame that some good companies are getting bad names because of level3`s performance issues.

Level 3 has had issues for a while. They expanded their customer base quite rapidly without competently upgrading and expanding their infrastructure. There's also really nothing you can do about it.
enf-Jesus its been like 12 minutes and you're already worried about stats?! :-P

Seems to me that such a infustructure would be to large and to dangerous for 1 company .Brings alot of what ifs to the table.
What if it all went down ?

True, true, and just a little scary. The other thing you might notice is that they control internet pipes all over the US. Not just in Texas or Chicago.

Can you say Monopoly with a tophat :P
lmao you know for example if Microsoft bought level3 the shit would hit the fan but oddly enough that old fan is still clean as a whistle ,wonder why.
I hate the idea of being forced to use a service can`t imagine how server host, network companies feel etc. Seems alittle Godfather like.

The business that controls the internet backbone is more of an oligopoly in the States as far as internet hubs go. Internet pipe ownership is a little more diversified in areas where smaller pipes are branched off though. Monopoly most elsewhere though.

Exactly the Business .I`m pretty sure the guys with the big pipes pretty much control the little pipe fellows. For example gollie that router is over loaded sorry all your customers are lagging but hey for a few more bucks a month we can sale you a insurance Contract that covers most technical issues on our side or how about this we will offer to purchase your business since your client base is dropping lol
