I call BS kANG. CP3 is leaving NO no matter what. It doesn't matter if they trade him now, in a few months, or let him walk as a free agent. At least with this trade they were getting quite a few good players in return. If players want to play in LA, NY, Dallas, Chicago, and Miami there is really nothing the owners can do to stop them. Yes, the players might have to take less money from the large market teams than they would get from the small market teams, but if they choose to do that then how can it be stopped?

I don't have the time or patience to write out what this move means, my opinons on the proposed trade itself, etc. I will just say that, as a new Hornets season ticket holder, the owners for most of these teams are ruining the game and business for everyone and Stern is an entitled prick that has done very little to improve the league in the last ten years.

It doesn't give every team a chance, it gives any team that he wants to play for a chance. Do you really think New Orleans, Cleveland, Charlotte, or Milwaukee have a shot at signing Paul, Williams, or Howard next season? I have a better chance of getting an NBA contract.
It has little to do with small market/large market. Look at Oklahoma City. They are small market, and even relocated froma larger market, and look how well they are doing. It has to do with good ownership and bad ownership.

Yes, and I think Minnesota would have given the Hornets less in return, then Paul would have become a free agent anyway. He wouldn't sign with Minnesota, so they would have given up something for Paul, and received nothing in return long term.

The NBA, meanwhile, on Friday afternoon gave the Hornets clearance to re-open the phones to talk to teams about possible deals.
