I lost 8 out of 10 placements; they put me at 1880 or so.... after playing solo a lot last night I am up to 2300 or so (I think). I am also experiencing quite a bit of trolls at that level.

I think it was Smoke that told me this, but if you are in a group in competitive it will try to match make you against groups, which most of the time will screw you up due to smurf accounts or them also being ranked really low after placement matches.

That's the way it feels to me. I love grouping up with 6 TPGers, but as soon as we start Comp matches we seem to play against groups with an insane amount of skill despite their ranking. I don't know I probably just suck and bring the team down with me. :P

Unfortunately playing as a 4-6man group is very risky, you have a large chance of getting put up against people who have played together the whole time, have good synergy, and use well-executed strategy. You really have to dedicate a lot of time and losses to make your group work in Comp.

That said, solo works well only if you can play a carry. If you are more of a teamplayer type you can roll in groups of 2-3 with fair success, make sure your group can field 1 of each tank/healer, for non-carry players it's important to use your ults very well. Seriously, learn when and how your ult can turn the battle in your favor and when not to use ults and you will go above your mechanical skill level

If you really want to try large groups, I'd recommend going into it lightly and back off after 2 or 3 losses in a row

ps: I placed somewhere in 2800, rose to 3200, then dropped back to 2800 lol.
