    Odd glitch?

As you can see, the GPU clock is set to 750MHz....yet the dial says 500MHz.

Note: This card is the still the HD4870.

That's common with AMD/ATI cards. When they aren't needing the power, they don't use it, as soon as you start up a game or something like flash or whatever (as long as it uses the card), it shoots back up to full power.

My 5770s do it, but more annoyingly with the 5000 series. It goes down to under 400, and when they shoot back up it causes the most ANNOYING flicker on my screen, and the only fix I can find for it doesn't fucking work for me as hard (or correctly) as I try.

So yeah, this is a PBKAC. Guyver needed to disable the manual fan control, and Overdrive since he is no overclocking his card.

This might be an artifact due to Crossfire, do you have the latest drivers and profiles?

I always have the latest drivers and profiles. The problem is even more prevalent on the 5800 series cards. The only way around it is the make a custom profile, find the profiles location in Program Files, and set the idle clock speed to something 500 or greater. The flickering is caused because the 400 to ~900 jump is trying to draw more power too quickly, but 500 as the starting point is acceptable to not cause the flicker.

I should also mention, it does the flicker whether I am using one card physically in the machine or have two cards in crossfire, it has the same behavior no matter what.
