Re: Thermaltake V1R
I have my ram (Gskill Ripjaw) overclocked WAY past specs.
I have 4 2GB dimms.
Sold to me at: DDR3 1600MHz 9-9-9-24 1.5v
Running at: DDR3 1124MHz 5-7-5-15 1.7v
They have a maximum temperature of 30C when running memory benchmarks utilizing all 8GB.
Ram does not get hot like silicon does.....
If after that you still want to cool them fine, but I will ask you...
What does the cooler for your SSD look like, hope its ginormous?
What does the cooler for your USB memory sticks look like? They can't be very handy....-- Intentionally Left Blank --

Um... memory can get quite hot, especially at higher clock speeds and voltage. While an aftermarket cooler is not always necessary, a lot of memory comes with some sort of heat spreaders to try to reduce the temps of the memory (including your Ripjaws).
Even good memory with a good heat spreader can still be hot to the touch. Perhaps not hot enough to cause any damage to components, but hot enough to increase the overall temp in your case. The idea is the cooler the memory is, the less heat that will need to be removed from your case. If you can't get the hot air out, the memory will get even hotter, and may start to run into stability issues from overheating.

Just saying the heat limit is higher for ram than the other main components. I would be more worried about cpu temp, gpu temp, NB temp, SB temp, case ambiant temp, before worrying about the ram....-- Intentionally Left Blank --
