Creating a mount for a TV

Recently got a Google TV for the station. Problem is that while I was assured there were studs in the wall, turns out there were none and it's a dry wall wall. So...we're going to be building a stand to mount it on instead. Any suggestions?

All I can think of right now is to have a wide, heavy base.

Probably metal studs. What size is the TV? You could still mount it using toggle bolts.

You can either mount it with toggle bolts straight to sheet rock or mount a piece of plywood securely to the sheet rock and put your mount on the plywood.

If you like the TV, do what flame suggests. It'll be safer. Just use a fair amount of toggle bolts.

What about a floor standing mount instead?
