If you get an Intel drive, download the Intel SSD Toolbox. It can configure a couple Windows settings correctly for your SSD and perform the TRIM command on a schedule for you.

I used a third party tool to move my OS to the SSD. It did the sector offset and everything. No need to reload the OS and it benchmarks great. And you just have to rerun the Windows Experience Index and Windows will turn on TRIM and turn off all defrags for the SSD. I cannot remember the name of the tool I used but I will find it when I get home.

It was Paragon Migrate to SSD

Paragon Paragon Migrate OS to SSD - Overview

It made life very easy and was well worth the $20 I spent on it. Like others have said though, make sure your current drive controller is in AHCI first and when you are done, run the Widows Experience Index to make Win7 use TRIM and disable defrag on the drive.
