Re: Goodbye floor fan...your services are no longer needed
So the best way is a clean install? I can't just install the drivers to my current HDD? It came with a disk, however, my cd drive is an older model with no ports on this mobo. Obviously I'd prefer to not have to re-install windows haha

Re: Goodbye floor fan...your services are no longer needed
It has been quite a few years and two OSes since I last tried to move an existing OS to a new platform. It was challenging and never was stable. I don't have enough experience with migrating an existing OS install to a new system to give any advice. Except to say that I always do a clean install on any new mobo. Sometimes the chipsets are similar enough that you can load and install new drivers. But since you are already crashing out it is a bad sign.
Some IT expert here probably has experience with migration tools but I would say reinstall in my case.

Re: Goodbye floor fan...your services are no longer needed
I've some experience with doing it but I agree with Soy. Unless you're previous OS was rock solid, no installs then uninstalls of software... Windows OS's get gunked up over time. Rebuilding is usually cleaner. If you're happy with it though, the basics are as follows:
On the working computer, load the drivers for the new mobo especially the SATA controllers. You may need to load them to devices not currently present. Hopefully that's all you'd really need to do then swap in the drive. I'm trying to recall if you need to delete the SATA controllers from original MOBO before you swap. I don't think so.
If you google it, you should find more hits on how to do it.

I'm just gunna go ahead and re-install. I ordered a new CD drive, and I'm in the process of moving shit to a 2nd HDD as back up. Honestly, after looking at all the extra shit I have on my comp, it's time for a fresh install.
