    Thunderbolt Rooting

I know that there are a few of us out there that own a thunderbolt and many more who own Android phones.

I am considering rooting my phone for no other reasons than boredom and to take off the friggin Verizon crap that they installed on it and maybe if I get confident enough in my phone hacking skills I'll try and do some hotspot or tethering capabilities as well.

But right now what I want to know, is it really this easy?

make sure your software version on the phone matches the description. This method wont work if you have the latest OTA installed. You would first have to downgrade 1 version of the OS to use this method but yes, it is that "easy". This method is actually rather complex compared to what I did for my droid incredible. My incredible was like 3 steps, took maybe 3-5 minutes and I was rooted. As a side note, the courts ruled that rooting your phone is perfectly legal. That is to fend off anyone saying that I am posting about something illegal.

Ok so I've managed to root it. LOL Now what? Which ROMs do you all suggest?

I bought Titanium Backup Pro and ROM Manager Pro cuz I just got my taxes in :-) so I have some spending money on top of my next month's bills set aside. Soo What's good?

    Re: Thunderbolt Rooting

    I would start here - HTC Thunderbolt - xda-developers

Here is a list of ROMS for the Thunderbolt - Thunderbolt ROMs & Kernels Listing v3.0 + Mecha Shipped Roms - Football [README] - xda-developers

The "best" ROM is dependent on what you are looking for. For me it was getting rid of as much bloatware as possible and battery life. For others it might be ability to overclock or customize. I would just browse around the threads to get a feel for what people are saying about the different ROMS, what issues they are running into with the most recent upgrade, etc...

Watch out though, the lingo can get pretty crazy in there. I was happy just finding one and sticking with it.
