    Re: Dual Vid Cards

    I never saw it either...

I am betting it's like DLP televisions and the rainbow effect.

That's an image of a hand moving rapidly in front of a DLP projector to emphasize the rainbow effect. On rear projection televisions you can see it if you look at a bright spot on a scene and move your eyes rapidly to another part of the screen. Usually candles or spotlighting or something to that effect will cause you to see it.

IF you can see it that is.

Some people never see it. Others, it's a problem enough that they really can't enjoy watching a DLP television.

I nearly didn't buy a DLP way back when for that very reason. When I first started researching them and finally got one, I could see the effect quite readily and it was annoying. Within six months, gradually enough that I didn't even notice it, I no longer noticed the effect at all. And now, with 6 color wheels and higher rpm speeds, and other tech improvements I never see it. Even when I try to force the effect it's very very rare to see it.

I would imagine the microstuttering is the same. Those that notice it likely, after time, will not. The human brain has a way of adapting and dropping information it doesn't particularly like visually. It's still there... your brain just doesn't process it.

Krakkens and shit. stop tempting them.

That would be actual stuttering, not micro-stuttering.

Micro happens when one card is rendering at say 150 fps and the second card for whatever reason has trouble keeping up and is at like 60 fps.... the interleaving of frames from the two cards presents difficulty when one can't keep up with the other.....

Yeah, it would feel like a quick stutter and not a chug. My eyes are sensitive to stuff like that, so I never bother to bring multi-gpu into my video card purchase decisions.

It was not simple lol. 1200w power supply took a dump and fried my asus motherboard. Having both replaced. Also getting the to add 6 more mb of ram and hook up the 2nd video card. Only thing Microcenter cant do is overclock my system....fml.

Also getting a bigger SSD so I'll be good to go soon.

Wow....how I missed you guys. lol.

New Asus x58 Mobo. Sold my 2 gtx 480's and got 2 GTX 580's on sale. Upgraded the Ram from 6mb to 12mb.

Everything seems to be working fine so far. Have procon installed....working on TS shortly.

Got a new 120mb SSD drive also that has my Windows 7 on it.

Question: Should I delete my BF3 from my storage HD and install it on the SSD?

Now I have to figure out of to switch it to my SSD...waiting for RHYS to give me a call. If not, I'll delete it and reinstall. Working on Teamspeak now. Oh how I missed this for a week.

OH OH OH, I have a solution for you, pick me, pick me.....

    Use this program:Steam Mover - traynier.com

Just instead of pointing it to your steam directory, point it to the directory just outside of where BF3 is installed.... no re-installing neccessary. It will move all the files over wherever you want.... but the old directory will still work as well (just like a shortcut)....This is the way to go with SSD's and moving games around.... no fuss....

It was installed to his secondary drive which survived but the primary drive was a complete loss. All the registry entries for BF3 and I believe his settings/profile were all gone.

Zoran, how's the system now with all the upgrades? Notice faster load times with the SSD?
