Need new Keyboard/Mouse/Mouse Pad
So its time for me to upgrade my whole system and I'm gonna start with the little stuff and work my way up. This is what I am currently using:
- Logitech G15 keyboard
*LCD screen is done
*back light is about to go out
- Logitech G9x Laser mouse
* Still is functional
- Ratpadz GS mouse pad.
* The pad use to have a texture to it but now it is all becoming smooth now due to being used a crap load of time.
So I know for sure that I am gonna replace the keyboard / mouse pad (still a little iffy on the mouse) and wonder if anyone got any good recommendation on those items.

I have been using Steel Series gaming surfaces for about 5 years now, have tried other brands, but ended up back with the good old Steel Series 5L. I like that it has a plastic bottom, but a fabric top with some rubber in between. It really is a nice surface.
I like a mouse surface that is smooth, but no so smooth that I can't tell it is there. I like to be able to feel what I am doing and not rely 100% on what I see on the screen. The glass and smooth surface ones just don't work for me at all. Here is the lineup from Steel Series:

Re: Need new Keyboard/Mouse/Mouse Pad
SteelSeries is definitely the way to go for surfaces. I have the glasstop I-2, I know Heavy said they don't work for him, but I can't play without it. Nothing smoother than a glass top mouse pad, precision at its finest!
Logitech's customer support is one of the greatest out there, If you call them up and say your shit it broken, 9 time out of 10 they will just send you a new one no questions asked. Doesn't matter how long you have had it. They replaced my friends G15 no questions, and Duddys G9 broke and they sent him a brand new G9x. They don't even ask for the broken one in return. I just bought the G700, wireless 5700dpi, and absolutely love it. I had the G9x before, and the cord frayed so I'm about to call them and see if they can't replace it myself. But I love the G700 a lot more than the G9, and I liked the G9 a LOT.

Ducky Shine (with your preferred switch type) Mechnical Keyboards - Overclock.net
Logitech performance MX: Amazon.com: Logitech Wireless Performance Mouse MX for PC and Mac: Electronics
I don't use mousepads anymore, so I can't give a good informed opinion on those....-- Intentionally Left Blank --

My recommendation for keyboards will nearly always be mechanical. The best value is the Razer Blackwidow. Do not look at the Ultimate. There are better mechanical keyboards for the money. If you want a quiet mechanical keyboard, I recommend looking for one that uses Brown Cherry MX switches or the Topre switches. Topre is probably the best, overall, but runs expensive.
For mouse surface, I can highly recommend the Artisan mousepads. I first had a chance to check them out at Quakecon a couple years ago. I will not buy another brand while their quality stays at the current level. They are cloth mousepads (they do sell some with glass beads woven into the fabric) and are sold in various textures and hardness. The backings are rubber and will never slide. There is no adhesive, but you basically have to peel the mousepad off the table if you want to move it. They also come in various sizes.
For mice, I don't have a generic one-size-fits all suggestion. The best I can really do for you there is advise you to go logitech if you use your whole arm or hand to move the mouse or go with Razer if you just use the wrist or fingers. I prefer the Razer mice nowadays, but see if you can find a local store that has the mice on display and try out how everything fits your grip.

I have the ultimate, but that was because it was on sale for $80 (same price as the regular), and I wanted backlighting.

Re: Need new Keyboard/Mouse/Mouse Pad
so I contacted Logitech customer support and gotta say they were super nice and helpful. Sadly I forgot how old my keyboard is (6 years almost), so they couldn't replace it by using warranty but they was willing to give me a 50% discount an online item. Also got me 3 20% off too. So I might see what they got for keyboards online, might pickup a G19 or G110
