    Re: New tablet

I rooted my Kindle Fire and installed Cyanogenmod 7 on it. It took some tweaking to get the Android Marketplace and Google Apps up and running, but it was well worth it once complete. The only drawback to rooting and using an alternate OS is that you lose access to the Amazon cloud service which validated the Kindle's low storage capacity.

If you use it primarily for browsing as I do, then it shouldn't really make a difference.

If anyone was interested in the Transformer (the first one, not the prime), NewEgg is selling refurbished ones for $300, very good price for it, IMO.

    A) Haven't seen any issues with wifi or gps reception. In fact I was getting a GPS signal inside my office building where I DONT get a gps signal on my galaxy nexus. Surprised me.

    B) Screen quality... Compared to the new ipad. Sorry... The IPad takes it on that front. The increased resolution and pixel density are amazing. The screen on the prime though is the best I've seen on any android device (or non ipad3 for that matter). Pretty sure I saw a comparison of a bunch of tablets recently and the prime was #2 on the list right behind the ipad3.

Overall I'm quite pleased with the Prime thus far. Very nice tablet.

Krakkens and shit. stop tempting them.
