Scythe Fan incl. w/ Mugen 2 Quit on me
So I was doing a normal system re-boot today, and it stops in the POST and says CPU fan error..... I check it, and indeed, the fan is not spinning. No amount of prodding from me gets it to start. I shut down, switch the fan to a just powered header on my mobo and it still doesn't spin when the computer powers up....
It spins fine when spun by hand, great lubrication, never made any noise.......
----
might even be able to get away with no cpu fan at all, we shall see.....
----
Well I tested with a small molex to 3-pin adapter I had lying around.... indeed the fan is dead.
Ding Dong! The Fan is dead. Which old Fan? The Scythe Fan!
Ding Dong! The Scythe Fan is dead.
Running a prime small fft test now to see if my case cooling is as good as I hope it is to run without a fan on the heatsink directly.....
----
Took about 30 minutes, but I got up to 56 C and it BSOD'ed me.
I turned off the 4ghz overclock and am back to stock now... testing again....-- Intentionally Left Blank --

You must have really good air flow to hit only 56 C with no CPU fan. I'm just surprised that that temperature caused it to blue screen.

Re: Scythe Fan incl. w/ Mugen 2 Quit on me
correct.
I do have a really good setup, I over-engineer my stuff most of the time.
For the Thuban (Phenom II x6) processors, 62 C is the max safe temperature. And my processor reports temps about 8 C lower than they actually are. When the fan wasn't broke I never went over 50 C when under a 24 hour Prime95 test.
So I went back to stock settings, my processor never goes over 34 C when under Prime95...... so yeah, my case airflow is pretty good.-- Intentionally Left Blank --

lol, when I get a job.... really need a job.... anything from IT support to programming I am good at.... just need to find something....
When it is overclocked I am at 4ghz on the cpu, 3000mhz on the memory controller and 3000mhz on the hyper-transport.-- Intentionally Left Blank --
