Re: 5750 crap'd
how heavy is that card? Sounds like its shorting, im no mechanic but check for cracks, them video cards love cracking.
Also, check for anything like... paper clips, staples w/e that might have fallen into the case, video cards or cpu heatsink usually catch those. Finally ensure the gpu's fan is spinning, wouldnt be the first startup problem i've heard from a particular series of video cards, relating to the heatsink fan being dust-stuck.
But again, im no mechanic or electrical engineer.

Bunni, you need be neither to work on computers. I know plenty of EEs from students on up to PEs who...use macs. Never touched a custom PC. Never even looked inside of a pre-built either.
You also could check for busted capacitors. A google search should give some signs, although a common one is a domed top instead of a flat top like normal.enf-Jesus its been like 12 minutes and you're already worried about stats?! :-P
Bigdog-Sweet home Alabama you are an idiot.

Then those people should never be giving advice on how to fix something they have never worked on.
The "google search people" usually make the problem worse..it breeds know it all personalities and in turn insults those that actually work in the industry and actually fix problems

I am going to buy a 6xxx 2gb card to rplace the 5750, Only Problem is the 300w fsp PSU. Might have to spring for the 500w If the GPU card isn't the problem.
Specs.
Gateway dx4320-19
1035t Phenom x6
8 gigs
---5750
1.5tb hd
dvdrw
I read some posts on the 5xxx cards and I've read posts on the cheaply made PSU's that gateway loves. So its a toss up.Last edited by SmokenScion; 04-11-12 at 02:30 PM.
