    two way file synchronization

Whats the best way to do two way file synchronization. Is there a specific software I should use. Can I do it with all types of files?

    Re: two way file synchronization

Also, I have the same question about one way file synchronization (mirror). I guess I should explain. Lets say I have this file that's a master file to something, but it's far away and I don't have access to it, but lets say I have dropbox setup on that computer, is it possible to put a mirrored file in that drop box so I have access to is? And, is it possible for that file in the dropbox folder to be a two way sync so if changes are made to it then it will update the master file?

Just saw your edit. I use Dropbox quite a bit. Google just released a competing service as well. In Dropbox if you update a file from computer A it updates the file for any other computers that have access to the file/folder. If you are on computer A, and I am on computer B, and we both try to edit the same file at the same time it will tell one/both of us there is a conflict.

I use dropbox a lot as well too - syncing between 4-5 computers and my android phone and Anira is as well. We have some shared folders between us that makes moving large files easy without dealilng with email quotas or mailing limits

    Re: two way file synchronization

Let me put it this way. I want the synced files to be both on computer A. One of them will be in the dropbox folder of computer A and the other will be in a regular folder or whatever. Will the file type matter? I'm thinking some database files, .accdb files. Anyways, I want the files to be synced on the same computer, it's just, I can't move the original file to the dropbox folder, it needs to stay where it's at, which is why I want another file that's either a mirror of it or a two way sync if even possible.

    Re: two way file synchronization

The files in Dropbox do sync multidirectional. two-way, three-way...etc

If the file can't move from where it's at then you can try the following:

Sync Files and Folders Outside Your My Dropbox Folder
Use Symbolic Links To Sync Any File Or Folder With Dropbox

If the files are of a sensitive nature, I wouldn't trust Dropbox further than I can throw it. They've had several HUGE security issues over the years including files being available to anyone, without authentication, for a couple days.

Good to know. I successfully used Alundil's second link and used the MKLINK command to synchronize a whole folder of sensitive files. So now I have two questions:

    1. How do I remove the synchronization? I can't simply delete the files in the dropbox folder because that deletes the originals.

    2. Who do you trust that offers a similar service?
