Brother-in-law and me working together to build one
So he loves to play D3 and got an P2-1113 WB HP Pavilion. It will run the game, but nearly as well as he would like. I am wondering if I will be able to upgrade any of the parts in it for him so he doesn't have to build a new system. I am not sure where to exactly find all of the components for the system. If you are able to find it is there anyone who can tell me what I may be able to fit in that case. Hoping to maybe upgrade his GPU and maybe his proc... If not maybe ram and GPU will save him from the laggy death many games have..
I greatly appreciate all of the input on this. Building my last PC was an amazing adventure and hoping to do this for him as well.I am a member of the American Sarcasm Society and head of the Frequently Unanswered Questions Division. The ASSFUQD.:

Eh...well. Looks like it can go up to 8GB of RAM. Speed? unknown. HDD should be fine.
Now, video card. That looks like it uses the integrated. Well, you're going to most likely need a bigger PSU. Will any you find work with the desktop he got? I don't know. What PCIe type is he running (1.0, 2.0, 3.0)?
If I'm looking at the right one at Walmart.com...it's got a 1.3GHz dual core with a 1MB cache. That would be a bit of a problem. My 2.61 GHz dual core WITH a 8600M runs it on low only at 40FPS on avg with dips to 20fps or so.
If you can still return it and he doesn't need a comp right away...do so. I'm sure we could come up with something custom that would work MUCH better especially if he's willing to upgrade parts anyway.
Lemme see what I can put together if that dastardly Soy doesn't beat me to it.enf-Jesus its been like 12 minutes and you're already worried about stats?! :-P

Well I was thinking same thing. If he returns it may be able to get it to work. If not may Jack the case, ram, HD, and one or two other parts and just build off of that stuff. It all up to him. Told him to have patience and we would do something better for him. Integrated cards are really crappy.

He had it two days too many for the return. Not sure if I can add a better processor or video card to the current system or if we could build him a new one and just use parts from the old one. Maybe keep the case, HD, ram, and CD drive. Not sure if power supply would be good or not.
He wants to go up to 700 or so. Mainly just to play d3 and it be.better than 10fps.

Can you open up the case and take some pictures of the inside to let us know what we're dealing with? If it's anything like a dell, it might be difficult.

Hmmm..$700 budget. Try and find out what RAM he has (brand, speed, capacity, etc.). CPU...wouldn't use it. PSU: same deal.
