    Looking for some help.

So, my 18th birthday and Christmas are relatively close together, so I'm building a new PC. Problem is, I don't really know what I'm looking for outside of my GPU. I figured this would be the place to go for some help. What do you guys recommend?

Are you buying now or are you buying closer to December? Things may change between now and then. Also, what is your budget?

Closer to December. I'm just looking for recommendations. I haven't gone over it entirely with my parents, but I'm guessing between 1000 and 1500.

    Re: Looking for some help.

Hmmm market is kind of changing with the GTX 660 releasing soon. But as of now....

Check out my $1100 build here:
Choosing Components for Your Budget PC
Doesn't quite include OS or DVD Burner/Drive yet since this was made mainly per the request of Tom's Hardware System forums use.

But... I would swap the 7950 with the GTX 670 if your budget allows:
    Newegg.com - EVGA 02G-P4-2670-KR GeForce GTX 670 2GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card
If you plan to SLI in the future try for the OCZ ZT 750:
Newegg.com - OCZ ZT Series 750W Fully-Modular 80PLUS Bronze High Performance Power Supply compatible with Intel Sandy Bridge Core i3 i5 i7 and AMD Phenom
Solid reviews by JG on the PSU, comparable if not better than the TX750 V2. (Plus it's modular)
OCZ ZT 750W Power Supply Review

    Should be solid!

That GPU and the PSU were actually the exact ones I'm looking at. That 670 is more than enough to run BF3 (the main reason I'm upgrading as well as being able to play Mass Effect) so I plan on buying a good one. If the 660 seems like something I would want, I'd buy it. Thanks for the advice, man!

No problem man! Good luck and I'm glad it helped, or if the guide did at all!

I like the way that sounds.

Sent from an HTC Thunderbolt in a religious land.

    Re: Looking for some help.

    Bump...

And a new question because I still don't really know anything about this and this is probably going to sound like a dumb question, but before I start ordering stuff, what do I need to buy? Do most things come with the necessary cables or do I need to purchase those too? The build is pretty much dedicated to gaming, if that helps. Anything is appreciated! Thanks.
