I was wondering what anybody knows about Microsoft internships? A friend of mine just got offered one (a laptop, a tablet, and ~$4k a quarter). He's a CIS major with an accounting minor.

I have a better question. Why hasn't he accepted yet!? I no expert on the subject but that is a sweet deal and its Microsoft how much better can it get?

Turning down an MS gig like that is hard to do. I turned down a job with them as a server PFE and it still bugs me sometimes.

Having friends who have worked for Microsoft in their desktop OS and Office divisions... Microsoft is a real slave driver. Overtime is expected and you are ostracized if you don't put in 'enough' hours. That being said... Life as an intern there for them was totally different. They actually treat their interns well because they want to lure them in to employment.
