Thread: Disabling Auto Restart.

I have a Laptop with Windows 7 installed on it. This Laptop is strictly for school use, so I often use it for typing up papers.

It has this irritating habit of auto restarting to update windows while I'm typing. I can't cancel it at all, and everytime it does it, I lose whatever I haven't saved. Is there some way to disable this or atleast make it give me the option to cancel it?

I have an HP G62 Notebook with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.

control panel > system and security > windows update > change settings on left hand side

you can set it to download updates but let me choose when to install them. or check for updates but let me choose to download and install them
