Re: Area network extension question
Your best bet is to talk to some of your local ISP business providers. They can provide some good insight into what you will need. Not all of the employees are going to be top notch but you may get lucky and have your Comcast rep suggest. If you talk to IT consultants in the area they are most likely going to throw quotes for services that they wont explain.
For a ball park figure .....We just ran about 600 ft of fiber underground from our main building to an annex building for approximately $9,000

Re: Area network extension question
I work for comcast. Your connection is not shared in the literal sense. Yes everyone is tapped into the same major fiber optic backbone but everyone in your neighborhood or business complex could have my company's service and you couldn't tell.
That was some made up tech bs from 10 years ago by the telecom companies which as of 2001 were legally forced to stop mentioning since there is no technical data to back up the statement

Re: Area network extension question
setup an array of cantennas at each site, ad hoc. If your a small company and not really needing super a super reduent connection, should work pretty well... Would be a lot cheaper than paying the city to lay down some lines... right?
Plus is tech-awesome... Win-win.
350 ft though... if your going through other buildings might be a problem....
Whats your companies average internal throughput?
