    Win 8

Would you be more likely to give Win 8 a go if it looked like LCARS?

I like the Metro look of Win8. I've loved it on my phone for the past two years, and plan on upgrading to the Nokia920 when it comes out.

I think they're moving in the right direction. Still some things that need re worked, but they're getting there.

Yea, it's good to seem them wake up to being behind the ball on mobile devices. But as a desktop OS the whole idea seems eh shaky. I admit I felt the same way about Win 7 but that's only because of the horror I heard about Vista, though I didn't really have a great deal of issues with that.

I just like my windows, I don't dig app links the way 8 is set up. It's likely the old school in me, I personally get the giggles when I get use command prompt.

from an enterprise standpoint windows 8 is a nightmare......... We would have to upgrade all of our servers to 2012 to get full compatibility for network shares and such using windows 8. I don't see that happening.

HUGE trek fan here so thats a given lol. I pimped out my iPhone 3GS to make it look like LCARS when i got it lol. Honestly I loved that phone for the longest while it was like they say the future is now.

As far as Win 8 and how it actually is no i wont be using it on my PC any time soon. Although I am interested in the surface tablet. I have an old bulky Dell laptop i carry around and i dont much fancy it anymore so i might look into getting one of those.

True, but as I said in the other Win8 thread we had a while back, that Metro UI look isn't even there if you don't want it to be. I've been using the Release preview for a few months now, and I rarely if ever use it. Aside from quick access to stuff I don't want cluttering my desktop or task bar that is.

I've also heard that from a resources stand point, Win8 is better than win7 by about, I think they said, 45%. I've not done the research, or will I cause its not that big of a deal to me, but if true its pretty nice for people that care.

    Re: Win 8

By what do you mean, is the OS using up less room on the harddrive of just more efficient in utilizing RAM and CPU cycles?

I've heard talk of uncertainty if older systems, not even that old, would be compadible with Win 8.

I am still sporting Vista. It is a great OS now that they have the kinks worked out of it. I wanted to blow up my machine before SP2 though.
Did I say that or was I just thinking it?

I wanted my comp to boot up and shut down faster, that's why I got an SSD.
