Both of the those will work, Isopropyl works too.

Depending on what sort of thermal compound, denatured alcohol and isopropyl alcohol work best in my experience. Denatured alcohol works great on paraffin based thermal compounds. You want to use a nice lint-free applicator. I take a piece of coffee filter, pour a little alcohol on it and gently rub the surface of the heat spreader & heat sink are clean.

I bought a new cpu cooler, and it came with a thin layer of grey goose shit on it. I want to put a higher grade of goop on it.

You'll wanna replace those fans. Stock Corsair fans are hella loud. Heavy uses Scythe Gentle Typhoons. I use Air Penetrators.

Difference between thermal paste these days are almost non-existent. It's more about the method you use. Also the paste that came with your H100i is very good paste... It's Shin Etsu paste, easily the best paste IMO.

Well the nerds in the NewEgg reviews said that Arctic Mx4 damn-near got them laid. I think they must use 3 wolf moon estrus in the compound.

I actually still have some Noctua stuff around here somewhere that has worked very well for the last few years, on a few machines. I just wanted to try something different.
