There's a few TPGers who have Sagers... I think Vafa has one...

    Re: Gaming laptop help.

I have the ASUS G74 when I'm not on my desktop. I have taken it to Qcon the past 2 times(2011-2012). It is the 2011 model I believe, got it at BestBuy for ~$1200, and was the best $1200 I have ever spent. This thing is a monster, it pretty damn heavy(you said not a concern) 17"display(which makes finding a carrying case hard to find because this thing is huge!) I just use my military backback. Not blueray. 2x500GB hard drives in RAID. It has backlit keys which brightness is adjustable and are phenomenal. Nvidia GTX560, will run just about anything out right now. 8GB ram, you can get the 16GB version but probably more cost efficient to do it yourself. The build quality and reliability alone was worth the $1200, IMO you can't get a better deal. ASUS is the superiority when it comes to computers and related comonents, and they have the customer support to back it up. ASUS ftw.

Looks like I am leaning toward ASUS. Going to Bestbuy today to see if they have any good in store sales otherwise I will order online.

    Model I am looking at:
    ASUS G75VW-TH72 Gaming Notebook - 3rd generation Intel Core i7-3630QM 2.4GHz, 16GB DDR3, 750GB HDD, Blu-ray Player/DVDRW, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670M, 17.3 Display, Windows 8 64-bit at TigerDirect.com
Doesn't seem like I can get much better unless I go up to about $1,800.
    We can do better.

I have a 2 yr old Sager NP8170. Very solid machine. Haven't bothered to upgrade the graphics chip, since the Geforce 470m runs CS:GO just fine. If I hadn't bought the Sager, I would've gotten an Asus. I don't think you can go wrong either way.
