So last night both times I tried to get into the DoD prime after like a life or so, my computer just crashed, like what would happen was I would get a black screen with the last sound I heard repeating, then my monitors would lose the connection like it would look like they were searching for something to be plugged in, after that my wireless headphones would disconnect and the lights on my keyboard and mouse would turn off. My tower would still sound like it was running though and the power on light would be on and to restart it I had to hold the power button to turn it off, I think I got the unexpected close, do you want to restart in safe mode screen when I turned it on again.

This has happened before in L4D2, but I don't know what's causing it other than it probably being something to do with Source, have any of you got any ideas why this is happening or what I could try to fix it?

What sort of GPU do you have? Have you updated any drivers recently?

I had this problem, more or less, when I needed to update the firmware for my SSD.

I knew I forgot something.

I've got a Radeon HD 5770.

I'm not sure when I last updated my drivers for my graphics card. I'm going to try that right away.

Make sure you do a full uninstall of your drivers and use a program like Driver Sweeper to get rid of all the remnants before installing new drivers.

I was wondering why you kept dropping. I assumed you were rage quitting because I am extraordinarily awesome and you aren't.

I've got a problem, I uninstalled the drivers via uninstall via the new driver download from the site, it then told me to reboot which I did but now I get the problem from my first post when I load up windows.

Ok, good news, I've managed to get into windows and have started installing my Graphics Drivers again, hopefully this will fix my problem.

hit the windows key, type event viewer. Check that to see what was happening around when the crashes occurred.

Ok, thanks found something.

The event seems to be amdkmdag

and in general it says "System shutdown due to graphics card overheating"

Could I get some help with this, I don't know anything, what's a good temperature, why is it only in those games? I don't know.
