Re: New Mouse & Keyboard! (PICS!)

Just bought myself a mechanical keyboard. Got a CM Storm Quickfire TK. Cherry MX Red switches. Compact size. Really like it so far. Haven't had a keyboard that felt like this to type on since my old IBM 84-key keyboard from WAY back in the day.

I have the Quickfire Pro (Cherry Browns) and I love the crap out of it. You can punish the keys all day long and they feel like they're still new. Even my most used keys (WASD) all feel the same as the other keys. The only thing I worried about picking out my keyboard was the numpad, as I actually use my numpad in games, usually for quicksaves. Also, you can emulate a controller pretty well by using WASD and NUM 8,4,5, and 6.

Cherry Reds is an interesting choice though. The Browns are the easiest to get used to.

I must admit, I went for the reds, because that means the keyboard is backlit red. Cherry MX Red switches -> Red backlight.

Huh, all the CM Storm products have a red backlight, unless the Quickfire TK is a different story. Example, my Quickfire Pro has a partial red backlight.

Edit: Answered my own question. The TK series does do backlights based on switch color.

Yup. The TK is fairly new... Saw them at Quakecon.

How many key stokes can be sent simultaneously?

I believe all CM Storm's mechanical keyboards allow any number of keys to be pressed simultaneously.

Yes. The Quickfire TK has N-key rollover meaning any number of keys can be pushed, even over USB. Some keyboards could only do this over PS/2.
