I'd have to look what the advertised is, but getting about 1.3mb/s a second here on speedtest and used this connection to game for awhile. As long as no-one else is using the internet/things are downloading in the background it seems to work for online gaming. Probably not the best, but serviceable.
Downloading games though? Oh god is it a pain in the ass, only thing worse would be caps on it. It can take a loooongggg looonngggg time to download most games, due to the damn size these days.
Used to have a couple cable connections in the 3mb/s range, and I'd say the ping was better but just going off faulty memory. Downloading was obviously better, didn't dread 5gb files at least :P.

Thanks a lot for all the info guys. I've had many people tell me that windstream is a waste of money but some people in my area get 6 Mbps DL so idk. I know it will be a change from the 20+ Mbps I get with com cast. But I will have to make due for now.

With most ISProviders you really cannot tell until you get the service. Although reviews and average speed test results will help you gauge your choices when it's the only game in town what else can you do?
All the same if you get service installed and encounter problems feel free to reach out here to get some additional help. When you move there is always a chance your first experience with an ISP is simply faulty/damaged equipment. Isolation is your best friend in troubleshooting.

Don't be too focused on your download/upload bandwidth. As WileE stated... ping is king.

Re: Minimum Mbps for gaming.
how far are you from your CO? The big box where all the local phone lines are running to from your house? Not the small cylinder looking thing in the yard. If you are close you should be able to get the 6m download like the others and have a descent ping. If you are pushing the distant limit then you will have the slower speed and higher ping.
Isolation is best for finding out your problems. if you are running right off there modem and are having issues here is what I would check first.
1. Good lines in the house.
2. Good line to your house.
Of course the 2nd one will be up to the phone company but if you have too many breaks/repairs in the line, it will degrade your signal.
I am currently at work and playing on Clears 4G wireless internet. While it is not the best I can still do ok on some maps. However, I do see small network delay when rounding a corner and I start shooting at the opponent and he fires back and kills me while I watched six of my bullets hit his head.
My pings are 80-130 today, which is good.
