oh joy so i was in the big city today saw a computer shop talked to the guy for a second talking bout prices he informed me psu testers dont really do the job cause it doesnt show how it preforms under load i think was his term so now i gota find a volt meter and try it that way to rule out the psu

IMHO, you should stop fooling around lookin for a quick fix and risking breaking your parts; you should just take it to a shop and have them look at it.

This. Just pay someone to look at it.

It comes down to 3 options...

1) You have enough spare parts available to test on your own.
2) You have the money to replace parts at random.
3) You pay someone to fix.

It's true that you may have a PSU that passes tests from a PSU tester and then under heavy load, fails or doesn't supply enough power. However, if your PSU doesn't pass a psu tester, it's just plain BAD. So, a PSU tester is not a waste of time but won't promise you a power supply that works or works perfectly under load.

I think a volt meter will give you more accurate results but you have to know where to properly use the leads and be careful to not short out anything. You still have the issue of testing under load which means it needs to be plugged into the computer and running, I think. There are a few motherboards out there that have spots on the mobo specifically to check voltage. Don't know if your's has that or not.

not that i can see all my mobo has is a lil green light bulb.
yeah i need a way to see if i'm getting the whole 650 watts out of this thing

this guy was friendly and free with info but charges 75$ an hour for pcs and also his computer store is connected to a bait store so thats a bit of a odd thing

also for 50-75$ an hour from a computer shop i could buy a new PSU and sell off the old one of save it its tough choices to make guy did say though in 20 years he has only seen 2 bas CPUs

It's something to think about. How much would you spend getting it repaired vs buying the extra parts yourself to troubleshoot. You should see if you can get a flat repair fee vs per hour. Then you could really make a decision on how to move forward. If they can't give you a flat fee, maybe give you a max fee for determining the problem. No more than 2 hours to determine/repair issue... If it's less, they charge you less but no more than X.

They should be able to determine which part is bad in an hour or less. If you have a proper bench stock it's seriously just a matter of removing all the parts and adding them back in one by one until it breaks. Once they determine it isn't a peripheral then they should put your CPU in another motherboard and another CPU in your motherboard. Depending on when/where the issue occurs they may have to run a benchmark program to put everything under heavy load.

I am all for DIY and do as much as I can or am willing, but sometimes there is a point where you have to admit to yourself that you don't have the ability or tools to fix something and hire a professional to do it. There are a lot of folks here that can offer guidance and suggestions, but we can't troubleshoot your parts. Take it into a reliable shop and have someone do it. Don't keep wasting money on parts for a system that isn't working.

tough thing is all the repair shops are in the next city over which back and forth ia 20$ in gas + thier fee i'm thinking of maybe slowly buying a new mobo cpu and psu have a back up comp or sell it/gift it moving into a new house so nothing i'll be able to do till march at the soonest
