Thread: Upgrade time '13

So now I am debating a completely different direction: A platform upgrade and then next year can be GPUs... I am looking at an Asus Rampage Gene board (X79 based) and a 3930k. I am currently using a 2500k on a Maximus IV Gene board (z68 based).

The jump in processing power would be significant, but would it really have that much more longevity than my current rig? I may be in the same boat as my GPUs ... too close to a new technology or release to make it worth it.

I personally came to that conclusion with my i7-950. Cost vs. performance increase just wasn't there for gaming.

Instead upgrading my 6870 will help me squeeze the frames I need in the games I play.
