In terms of music storage, what would be the positives and negatives of storing my media on an ssd other than cost?

Yea, an SSD for music... not your best move. IMO
Best thing to do given the price of SSDs at the time is to install your OS and limited programs that you want to be hella fast and keep your data and additional programs that dont need super speed on a regular drive.
For me, BF3 SSD, Skyrim disc drive.Dispatch the DooM

All of those monitors look pretty good. Depends on how far out you plan to get one (or three). I have two fairly run of the mill (these days anyway) 24" Dell displays. I have been trying to snag another one for cheap to see if I want to go for 3 displays or if I want to go 1440.
Since you're looking at 27" 1440ps, have a look here: http://www.overlordcomputer.com/

You might also consider a Catleap.. seems you'd have to get one through eBay.
catleap q270 in Monitors | eBay
They seem to be all the rage with gamers looking for 27" these days. For performance/price ratio anyway.

I'll mainly be using it for single screen gaming (I don't like stereo screens...the space between the monitors irks me), and as added real estate for working on coding projects along with my 24". Not sure when I'll pick this up (still working out where I'll be living at school). Obviously, if I don't have room for a 27" monitor, I shouldn't get one. I should be fine though.
As for the monitor specifics, other than the speakers and input ports, what are the differences, which is to say why would I pay nearly double for the Samsung as opposed to getting the Asus?enf-Jesus its been like 12 minutes and you're already worried about stats?! :-P

I'm also thinking about getting these although I'm going to wait to see if my future roommates (if I have any) would mind the speakers.

Re: To ssd or to not ssd. That is the question.
If the drive is only for music storage, I'd say it's very expensive to use an SSD. There are some advantages though. If you're not erasing and rewriting, it will probably last longer and be more durable than a standard drive. Read speeds will be very high. You're giving up space though for additional cost.
I'm assuming you have an SSD for your OS and applications. If you don't, I highly recommend looking into it.
