    New Build Guidance

So it's been about 7 years (give or take) since I built my last PC, and I'm looking to finally upgrade the hardware. Aside from things like a monitor, keyboard, mouse, etc... I'm looking to upgrade everything.

    Here's what I have now:

    CPU - E6600 Core 2 Duo
    Mobo - Gigabyte 965P-DS3 (Intel)
    RAM - 2 gigs of Crucial Ballistix DDR (I wanna say it's PC2 6400)
Vid Card - Nvidia GeForce GTS 250 (I'm ok with this for now)
Power Supply - Not entirely sure, but I'm gonna go ahead and say it needs to be upgraded as well

    Yeah it's old...I know.

I'm not looking to be on the cutting edge when it comes to new parts, I just need a basic upgrade. I was pretty on top of things with my last build, but I haven't paid attention to PC components in years and I have no idea who or what is on top now.

Not looking to spend a fortune, but will shove out some extra cash if need be to put myself where I need to be.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I guess one consideration would be your budget... What do you figure your budget will be?

    Re: New Build Guidance

To be honest, I wasn't really sure what a good starting point would be.

    CPU - $200
    Mobo - $120-$150
RAM - $50 (constantly seeing it on sale)
Power Supply - Nothing Fancy. Just something that will power what I need it to.

Like I mentioned before, I can shelve out some extra cash if need be. What will the above figures get me in terms of today's norm?

You are missing a GPU, no? For gaming that is one of the biggest keys.

I have an Nvidia GTS 250 which is something I bought a couple years ago to replace my old Nvidia 8800 that crapped out. I figured the 250 would suffice for now.

Closest MC is Dallas or Houston. Not sure how much it would save you paying tax and shipping, but if you want/need someone to buy it for you, and mail it to you, let me know. You provide the money of course.
