Thread: Virtual Desktops/VT-D/Dedicated Video

I looked at doing the RemoteFX thing once. I have gaming kids now and my thinking was one gaming rig and RemoteFX to cheap hardware in their rooms. At the time, the hardware and licensing costs were higher than individual gaming rigs for the kids. Have things changed?

dunno. I've never used it personally. But it should be no more licensing than for the OS

But it was. I have Technet and RemoteFX wasn't included. Plus you had to have a high end Quattro or FireGL card in the server too. I haven't looked at the Server 2012 HyperV yet though. Maybe I will make that a weekend project soon.

RemoteFX isn't a product though. It's a function/role of the operating system. There's no licensing for FX.

I don't think that was the case when I was looking at it.
