I have the S2 skyrocket (think that's the LTE one). For fast, battery isn't the beset, but it's a good performer. Cyanogenmod has a compatible Jelly Bean Rom for it.
enf-Jesus its been like 12 minutes and you're already worried about stats?! :-P
Bigdog-Sweet home Alabama you are an idiot.

For me I like:
Yelp
Viggle--Rewards for watching tv (which really you need to only watch like 30 seconds at most of a show for it to identify the show, then just do whatever else til the show ends and repeat).
Wikipedia
TuneIn Radio (if you like any streaming radio)
Beat the Traffic
MyTopo Maps
LibriVox Downloader--For (legally) free audiobooks basically
MortPlayer--To play said audiobooks and/or bought ones
Pulse--For news
Flixster--Movie reviews

Re: New Cell Phone
Personally I believe that the Win8 phones such as HTC's 8x and the Lumia 920 are the best phones on the market.
Iphone's are stable but it's the same thing as it was 7 years ago. If you're looking for something new, stable, and fun to use; buy one of those mentioned above.
