Case: No preference
Mobo: I don't know too much about Intel North Bridges, but I'd be worried about how feature rich B75 would be compared to Z77. EDIT: B75 doesn't allow CPU or RAM overclocking, refer to this page.
VGA: Good choice. The 7850 is great bang for buck. The 7870 LE (or 7870 XT as companies like to brand it) is bar none the best graphics card for $250 though.
PSU: 850W is complete overkill. I would look at a wattage around 650, but with a good 80+ rating
CPU: You should be looking at the i5-3570k if you're going to be getting a 70 dollar aftermarket CPU cooler. The 3450S is an efficiency minded CPU and so has little to no overclocking capability
SSD: Sandforce scales great in low capacities, so as a boot drive, that'll be good. Mushkin is a pretty good company too.
RAM: I don't know exactly what you do, but 16GB is still a lot of RAM. Living off of 8 is still more than enough, but it all comes down to personal preference above 4GB.
HDD: Nothing much to say
Optical Drive: Nothing much to say
Fan: I don't have much experience with Zalmann, but my Cooler Master TX3 keeps my i5-2500k nice and frosty for much, much cheaper.
Otherwise it's a good first list.Last edited by Allane; 03-24-13 at 04:46 PM.

Re: The New Rig
I have the overseer rx1 basically the same interior however i prefer the exterior a bit more than the chasers. its not a lot different but just enough to make things seem a bit more cleaned up to me. i dont think you will have any problems with it though its a pretty good case. i would try to squeeze in an SSD though unless you already have one.
side note: love the avatar im a big fan myself :PLast edited by SourceSkills; 03-24-13 at 04:48 PM.

Re: The New Rig
Thermaltake hasn't made any good cases in a extremely long time. You don't need a 850watt power supply, especially since you won't even pull 500watts from that machine (~450w max load). Zalman hasn't made a good heatsink in a long time as well.
What's your budget?
You also didn't mention what CPU you were looking to get.

Re: The New Rig
lol, there's just much better cases especially at that price range. At a wee bit over 100 bucks, you have the Corsair 500R, NZXT Phantom, Corsair 550D, Rosewill Thor V2, Fractal Design Define XL, CM HAF XM, Corsair C70, etc. I could go on, but those were the ones that I thought of, off the top of my head...

Re: The New Rig
Yes I did, Ivy Bridge, iCore 5: CPU: Intel Ivy Bridge i5 Quad-Core 2.8 GHz
@Allane, I will take a look at your suggestions, thanks for the PSU stuff I'll peg it down that should save me some money.
My Budget is about 1400 on the tower itself, and the I/O is roughly 300.
I will look into an alternative fan as well.
