iPad Wifi Printing

Im trying to get my dad's iPad to print websites/emails to his wifi printer (HP officejet 6480) and in doing a bit of research it seems that you either need an AirPrint compatible printer or have to buy an app to allow printing.

Is there a free way to allow him to print? Seems a bit ridiculous that I can't find a solution but not far-fetched for Apple and their proprietary ways.

Hook up the printer to a comp. Set to be shared. Print that way. Not sure how it would work on an iPad though.

sorry but apple offers ZERO native printing support on the ipad. Here is a pretty decent article talking about your options.

HP has their own app you can try as well

it says its iOS compatible
