Anyone else having issues with this GPU?

It's the ASUS 7970 Direct CU II Top 3 GB Anyone else having issues with this GPU?-p_500-jpg

When playing ARMA III my Pc just locks down and all i got is a black screen. Pc not responding ,not even to ctrl alt del and has to be shut down manualy.

In the last topic i created this was the card i send for RMA,and it was causing the PC to malfunction,i received another one and this one is also malfunctioning.

So i am just asking does anyone has some bad expirience with those ? And is there a solution for the or should i go back to the shop with it and replace it for a 680/690 Nvidia?

Have you tested the machine with another card? May not be the video card. If that's not possible, try a couple different versions of the driver.

Tried with the lates 13.4 and the Beta 13.5 driver and i have the same issue.
Running the PC with a nvidia 210 low end card but without any issues for a week.

It's odd that Asus is having trouble with the VRM on the 7970. Tahiti has been available before even Pitcairn, but maybe it's because Pitcairn is newer that it's more stable... But from what I understand, Tahiti experiences power draw issues at very high clocks because the chip is so massive (there's a reason the HD7950s have clocks around 850MHz),

If it were me in this position, I would sacrifice some cooling capabilties provided by Asus and get a Sapphire card instead. Sapphire:AMD as EVGA:Nvidia, it's difficult to go wrong with a Sapphire video card.

Sapphire AMD GPU's have always been beter than any other manufacturer,i just went with the ASUS for the beter looks.

So i decided to go with this card SAPPHIRE HD 7970 GHz Edition 6GB GDDR5 VAPOR-X

Maybe i will have beter luck with this one.

What do you need 6GB for? There's a 3GB Vapor-X version too that's significantly cheaper. I can see a 6GB version if you have 3 or 4 monitors at 2560x1440 though.

Either way, you're getting a good card. It's too bad Volcanic Islands (HD9000 series) is coming out Q4 this year, and that the rumours floating around are that the 9970 has the potential to be twice as fast as the current 7970. Supposedly they're also putting some ARM processors on the GPU core as well, but the only diagram we have doesn't make it clear whether it's a GPU or APU.

All other games that are using bellow 1 GB of Vram make no problem with my current card but as soon as i switch to ARMA III or BF3 it is locdown time.
Strange....And i am going with the Sapphire 6Gb because at the time being when i purchased the Asus card it was something like 550€ so i can choose another card for the same ammount of money.
