Any word on if Intel is going to do a new generation release of hex cores like with the 2011 socket?

Intel hasn't even gotten to Ivy Bridge-E (which will stay on socket 2011), so it doesn't sound like Haswell-E, which will be on a new socket, will come around any time soon. Judging by Ivy Bridge-E's release date, I'm guessing Haswell-E will be late 2014.

Sadly, there is no real reason to release another Hex-Core system because there is just nothing on the table to compete with what is currently out there. We have discussed this in previous topics, but no competition means Intel can wait out as long as they want before releasing the next best thing.

Increase in competition typically brings faster releases on newer products, and existing inventory of older products coming down on price. As it stands right now, Socket 2011 stuff is still selling at near release price. The 3930k hasn't come down in price at all since last year, yet it is still in stock at many retailers and selling well.
